We pride ourselves in producing delicious meals using local ingredients when ever possible. Breakfast is served between 8 am and 9 am and guests have a choice from our varied breakfast menu. Viv qualified as a teacher of Home Economics and taught food and nutrition and cookery to A Level standard as well as to adults in evening classes. Therefore you can always be sure of a well cooked meal. To begin you may have freshly squeezed fruit juice followed by a wide choice of cereals including home made muesli and locally sourced yoghurts. Fresh fruit salad is made daily with seasonal fruits including blackcurrrants raspberries, strawberries and apples grown at Willow Pool. This can be followed by a cooked breakfast including eggs from our own free range hens. We keep three breeds of hens – black rocks, colombian blacktails, and aracanas. The latter lay blue shelled eggs which make wonderful scrambled eggs. You may also have your eggs fried, poached or boiled. These may be accompanied by Wiltshire bacon, Oaksey sausages, and many other items chosen from our tasty menu. Follow this with home made bread toast or croissants, best dairy butter, and a selection of Viv’s own home made preserves - many made with home grown fruit. She is presently perfecting a recipe for a fruit of the lakes jam made with all the wild fruit and berries growing on our property. Our choice of beverages is equally varied with seven varieties of tea including green teas and fruit teas as well as frothy hot chocolate or a cafetiere of freshly brewed coffee either regular or decaffeinated. There are many events held in Gloucestershire throughout the year which attract visitors to Willow Pool. In March (the nearest week to St Patricks Day) the National Hunt Festival is held and thousands of racegoers descend on the area. In late March and in early May The Gatcombe and Badminton Horse Trials take place. In mid June Kemble Air Day just three miles from The Water Park sees numerous flying and static displays of vintage jets. In July each year the worlds largest Military Airshow takes place at Fairford and there are eight hours of flying displays on each of the two days it takes place. A completely different type of air rally takes place at Kemble Airfield in August. This popular flying association rally plays host to self build planes from all over the world. Thousands of self built planes arrive from all over the world. Other unusual events include The annual woolsack races in Tetbury where competitors race up and down very steep hills carrying 60 pound sacks of wool on their backs take place the last Monday in May. The annual cheese rolling competition also takes place on this date. Competitors hurl themselves down Cooper’s Hill near Brockworth chasing a giant cheese. Our rooms are all very comfortable and all have top quality divans with head boards. These are of generous proportion either king size or super king size. Crisp linen and fluffy duvets with comfortable pillows ensure a restful nights sleep. Extra blankets are provided for guests from warmer climates and dressing gowns and slippers are provided for you convenience. There is no need for sleeping tablets on your holiday as the fresh air and relaxed atmosphere will guarantee a good nights rest.
